I am a high school visual arts teacher in Central Massachusetts who - surprise here - loves making art! I graduated from Syracuse University with a B.F.A. in Illustration, a M.A.T. from Tufts/ School of the Museum of Fine Arts and am currently working on a Communications Design certificate from MassArt.
Originally thinking I'd be an editorial illustrator, my kids inspired me to pursue children's book illustration. I've created a book for each of them and been hired as an illustrator for self-publishing authors. I am most interested in creating illustrations for nonfiction children's literature, especially related to history and science.
Artistic research is an integral part of my process. My initial pull towards illustration was born from a love of learning. I explore and push the elements of color, light and shadow, and texture that are found in nature and hope that my work is a shared experience of wonder at the world.
